Fitting guide and services:

We have over 10 years of full time skate fitting and industry experience (gathered from numerous skaters, coaches and manufacturers over the years) and know not only about the products available, but also about figure skaters and skating, from beginners to high level competitors. We have lived the sport from both sides, skater parent and business, and know all about the PROPER equipment for the skater based on their age, size and level. We can answer any questions you may have.

The first and most important rule is to get the APPROPRIATE skate for the skater, not necessarily the most or least expensive. Remember, even skate manufacturer recommendations are just that, and do not take into consideration age, size, or growth rate. All are important considerations for choosing the correct skates.  You cannot go by a recommendation chart alone.

Figure skates should fit snug. Please resist the urge to buy larger skates for growing room. Skates that are too large will cause blisters and discomfort and will wear out prematurely. We provide skate fitting services for our in-store customers.

When trying on figure skates, be sure to tap the back of the boot or blade on the ground to seat the heel firmly into the back of the boot. The stiffer the boot, the more effort this will take to seat the heel correctly in the back of the boot. After the heel is firmly into the back of the boot, lace the skates up to the top hook. Only now can you feel if  the skate is the correct size.

When choosing the correct width, you should note that width affects the heel as well as the ball of the foot. If the heel is snug, do not get a wider skate. Leather skates will stretch to fit with a break-in period, or the ball area can be stretched to fit if necessary. We provide stretching services for in-store customers.

Mid and high level figure skates are now almost all Heat Moldable. Heat molding is done in a special oven at controlled heat and time. The heat molding process softens the structure of the skate allowing it to mold to the foot, it then cools down and regains its stiffness permanently "molded" to the shape of the skaters foot. This process should not be done more than a few times. We provide Heat Molding services for our in-store customers.

Our online prices do not include the above services. If you would like any of the above services, please email us for an appointment or store hours. We only provide these services for skate we sell. We do not service skates purchased elsewhere.
